Outdoor Soccer Rules

1.      A default will occur if any team cannot field a squad by 15 minutes past the official start time. A team can play with a minimum of 3 people, as long as one (1) of the players is a woman. Captains may agree to waive the rules regarding minimum players but this should be decided before the game starts.

2.      Team captains are responsible for bringing a soccer ball and two field markers. Captains must pace out the field so it is approximately 35 paces wide and 50 paces long.

3.      Teams are comprised of 6 players, including goalie, with a minimum of two women on the field.

4.      Each game is comprised of two 40 minute halves with a 5 minute half time. One person will be the timekeeper.

5.      The kickoff consists of the ball being placed at midfield. The ball must complete 1 forward rotation before touched by another player.

6.      Substitutions may not be made on the fly. Substitutions can only occur during stoppage of play.

7.      Anytime the ball goes over either sideline, out of bounds, a kick in will ensue.

8.      If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the offence, as goal kick is awarded to the defending team.

9.      If a ball is kicked out of bounds along the goal line by the defence, a corner kick is awarded to the attacking team.

10.  **Handball infraction occurs when the ball hits a player's arm from the ELBOW down (as opposed to the shoulder). However, players may use their arms to block the ball from hitting their face and groin area. In addition, female players can use their arms to block the ball from hitting their chest.

11.  The offending player should call their own infractions, however any players involved with the incident can also make a call. Players not on the field at the time of any incident cannot make a call at any time.

12.  All free kicks are indirect.

13.  There are no off sides.

14.  Slide tackling are not allowed under any circumstances. Slide tackles will result in a direct kick being awarded to the opposing team at the point of infraction.

15.  If a goal is disputed, an indirect kick is awarded to the offensive team from where the original shot was taken.

16. A game can end in a tie during the regular season.
